Rajahmundry has been witnessing several politicians, actors and noted personalities visiting the city.. On the occasion of Pushkaralu, actor turned politician Chiranjeevi took holy dip in river Godavari at Rajahmundry.

The film star devotee attended the Maha Pushkaralu event.  His brother in law Allu-Aravind and nephew Allu Sirish accompanied him to the ritual at the Pushkara Ghat. According to sources, the Congress leader and Tollywood Mega star Chiranjeevi, with his brother in law and nephew had a peaceful visit to Rajahmundry. They performed ritual and took a holy dip in the river on the occasion of Maha Pushkaralu. People in large numbers visited the Ghat to catch a glimpse of the star.

The security forces had a hard time controlling the huge crowds. But Chiranjeevi greeted the crowd waving his hand and with smile on his face. Allu sireesh tweeted that lakhs of pilgrims took a holy dip in Godavari worshipping the river. The actor visited Rajahmundry few days ago to condole the victims, when a stampede took place. He expressed his grief for the victims of Stampede in Rajahmundry. He also said that the government has failed to arrange the basic amenities. It is believed that three and twenty crore devotees have already taken holy dip in River Godavari in Andhra pradesh on the occasion of  Maha Pushkaralu. According to astrological terms, the occasion commenced from the day when Jupiter enters the Zodiac sign of Leo.

The first twelve days are known as Adhi Pushkaralu and are considered to be holy days. Maha Pushkaralu occurs once in 144 years and the normal Pushkaralu occurs once in 12 years. The occasion started on July 14th and will end this Saturday. Heavy crowds are expected on the end days of Friday and Saturday. According to the religious scholars, it is believed that any devotee can take a holy dip for the next one year at the noon time as the gods will be present till noon. The next Maha Pushkaralu will be held in 2159.
