Bus accident in Himachal pradesh kills 6 people

A private bus fell into Machada Hhud in Rampur area, Himachal pradesh on Friday morning killing atleast 6 persons and leaving 25 others injured.

The bus was on it’s way from Jeory to Shimla when it fell into Machada Khud, nearly 120km from Shimla. Six persons died on the spot and 25 others are injured in the mishap. Among them, four of them are seriously injured. Some persons including one child are reported to be missing in this accident. They are feared to be washed away into the river Sutlez. The injured persons were brought to Civil Hospital, Rampur while the four seriously injured persons were taken to IGMC Hospital for treatment.

Seema Devi (35), Amit Sharma (23), from Nirmand, Prem Raj (49), Himesh Kapoor (40), Ved Prakash (29) of Kumarsein Pankaj (25) from Chhapra in Bihar lost their lives in this accident.The District administration has engaged in relief operations and has announced rupees ten thousand for the kin of the deceased and rupees five thousand for the seriously injured as an immediate relief to the people. The Chief  Minister of Himachal Pradesh, Virbadhra Singh has expressed his condolences for the deceased and prayed for the speedy recovery of the. He has asked the District administration to render the possible help needed.

According to reports confirm that there were a total number of 32 passengers onboard. The driver of the bus lost his control over the vehicle and it fell down into Machada hud in Rampur area.  A Soldier Narendra varma who escaped the incident with minor injuries said that some of the people might have been washed away into the Sutlez river and could not be ruled out. There was a traffic jam after the accident happened, which hampered the conditions for rescue operations by the District administration in that area.

Witnesses said that rescue workers had a tough time retrieving the bus. Authorities reported that the death toll could rise as the situation of the people washed away could not be ruled out.  The locals helped in rescuing those who were alive and assisted the District administration in sending the victims to the hospital. The route between Jeory and Shimla is a rough one as it is an accident prone zone.
