About the Scheme
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is intended to develop skills in the Youth, especially the unemployed sector by training offered by Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship through the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). This scheme will cover for more than 24 Lakh persons by giving skilled training which would be based on the Industry standards and on National Skill Qualification Framework (NSQF). Up on Training, monetary reward of Rs 8000/-would be awarded to the Trainee based on their assessment and certification by Third Party assessment bodies.
Narendra Modi recognized the need for skill and knowledge, as they are a part and parcel of any country. He wants to develop skills in Youth as better skills would face the challenges emerging in the present day world. Modi recognised the fact that India has a vast youth population and if they are educated properly, India will become a emerging source for a productive world.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) will primarily focus on the first-time entrants to the labor markets and gives priority to drop-outs of Class 10th and Class 12 th (Intermediate Level).The scheme will be implemented through National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) training partners through 2,300 centres in collaboration with 187 bodies. Besides them, Central and State Governments also impart training partners to train the trainees, but all training partners will have to undergo a due diligence process to be eligible for the scheme trainers.
To verify and record all details of training centers, a Skill Development Management System (SDMS) is appointed and it will hold those responsibilities. It will also take feedback from trainees to evaluate the effectiveness of the scheme. Bio metric system and video recording will be used where ever necessary.
To Implement this scheme, government is spending 1,120 crores of which 220 crores will be spent for training 14 Lakh Youth. While 67 Crores will be spent for generation of awareness and mobilization of Youth. An amount of 67 crore rupees will be distributed for mentorship support and for facilitating placement. The Ministry of Skill and Entrepreneurship plays a crucial role in implementing Kaushal Vikas Yojana (KVY). This scheme is being launched today.
