couldn’t listen to this all the way through. i tried. just can’t.

Drudge Report’s headline was slanderous to Ron Paul. Many people who don’t have the time to read that Paul did not quit his campaign to be US President, just assume he did.
Ron Paul campaigned plenty in Primary State California already this year and last. The MSM didn’t report on the thousands who were at his Rally’s.

    • DrLeadBasedPaint

C’mon! For practical purposes, Paul, Benton and the rest of the campaign have basically told us all to shut up, act wik goooed wittewl boyz and gawalz, sit on our hands and/or go home.

I am ready to shoot myself. What a freaking let down. It’s my fault… Paul would hardly even ask for votes during the campaign, so why would I think he would make a stand at the convention?

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Lango/1614700070 David Lango

I live and work in Los Angeles and all around me when I discuss, my affection for Ron Paul is lost on most of my peers. I see I am a minority. I’ve done a reality check. Romney could easily take California just from my sampling of a hundred people. It’s about 10 to 1.
And I tell ya it’s hard to talk to a mind that’s already been made up. I’ve done some serious talking points and I’d say only 50% at best success at getting someone to feign interest. I am very persuasive and have a good reputation, so it’s about 10 to 1 Romney over Obama.
There’s a lot of Mormons here.
What’s worse than Mormons are the Christians who think Israel just HAS to be protected at all costs! It blows my mind. If we don’t fix the thinkin’ on this large segment of the population, we will ALL suffer going broke in a war with Iran next.
      America SO needs the Doctor!
      Ron Paul 2012

  • DrLeadBasedPaint

Sheesh. I was hoping that this thing would end with a bang, with the forces of good overcoming the forces of evil at the last minute, delivering hope for our country and for humanity. “Finally,” I thought, “We will see the illegal, immoral and illegitimate Republican establishment confronted and forced to comply with laws, rules and moral decency.” Boy, was I wrong! I’m still for Paul, but it’s hard to fight when the leader is afraid of a confrontation. By the way, I will NOT vote for Barry Soetoro. I also will not vote for Romney. The air is out of my balloon.

It seems like Jesse is very reticent to answer ANY questions about later dates — I believe the reasoning: is that to make ANY statement about the future is to give the media the right to print AND interpret the future (WHICH IS THE WORST THING EVER)

I will NOT vote for anyone other than Ron Paul.

what about the bound delegate issue mentioned by Benn Swann in reality check ( all delegates are considered free agents and may vote for whom they please) regardless of first round or other at the G.O.P. convention in Tampa ???

    • Grand Abbot

The less the media is aware of the real strategies the better. Media only does one thing, RUIN EVERYTHING

  • Sperry73

we are in a war and this is just one of the battles… remember!

  • nettyspyder

“Respectful decorum” can also include walking off the convention floor and denying them a quorum! That would get their attention if enough Ron Paul supporters make it to tampa. That is perfectly in line with Roberts Rules of order. Read up on it and prepare!

    • DrLeadBasedPaint

Give it up. Paul does not want a confrontation at the convention. It’s hard getting revvvved up to fight for something the Top Dawg doesn’t even want.

What good does it do to be able to vote on rules if the party doesn’t follow them? Who cares about influencing the party platform when the nominee won’t follow it once in office? Respect and civility? Like they have shown the RP supporters over the last couple months? Sounds like somebody is giving in. Just doesn’t make sense. The momentum seemed to be rolling, but this just killed it.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Lango/1614700070 David Lango

changing the rules and adjusting the platform is HUGE dude… We’ve seen what the “neo-cons” did to the Republican platform and what happened in Iraq….
We can FINALLY turn that around and FIX IT!

  • Greg

Confused about not taking the offer that the RNC handed out a few weeks ago. Is this the Ron paul campaign saying they know their not going to win the nominee…it might not be i just wish Jesse would be a little more direct with some of his answers.

    • Shane

Well, Ron can already bring the money in to keep operations out of debt. Supporters have proven that over and over again. Let them HAVE it, throw them that bone, because if Ron earns the nomination? Ron gets the proceeds anyway =)

So it doesn’t matter. And maybe making such a move will go a long way to disarm the GOP some. I feel that it was Good Diplomacy. it changes nothing for us in terms of strategy or anything, it doesn’t hurt us. It could only help us

I think a commendable peace offering. Well played, I say. It keeps the Paul campaign in a positive light too.

I’m going to use paypal to send him another hundred. I think I have room, getting close to $2500… It’s a worthy cause to educate our future and fix what’s wrong with America. Ron Paul has not “given up”, he’s no doubt full on crafting the most important changes that need to be made to the Republican platform… Because he FINALLY GOT A VICTORY AND HAS A VOICE!
Do you know how satisfying that must be after doggedly nagging the establishment for 12 terms, and getting ignored in Congress and FINALLY GETTING A VOICE?!?!
      IT IS HUGE

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jared-Baker/100002140541294 Jared Baker

its hard for me to believe Ron Paul approved this and jesse benton is speaking on behalf of the freedom, liberty and the revolution…i made it 8 mins and turned it off… this is fucking disgusting and yes the word i just used is fitting.

mitt romney doesn’t have the 1144 and seems to be loosing more state conventions than he is winning.

mitt romney cant win against obama and who gives a hoot IF mittens does a 180 and says “he im supporting what ron paul believes in with the federal reserve and bringing ‘some’ of our troops home”

would that really matter to anyone that supports ron paul? NO. because once you are a crook, a liar and a cheat no one in the ron paul camp will believe that all of a sudden you have made a 180 on ‘important liberty beliefs”!

what happened to “waiting till all the votes are counted” what happened to lets go to tampa and see what we can accomplish?

the Revolution is JUST getting started, WE are WINNING and i think im just going to ignore Jesse Benton exists and hope he leaves the campaign quietly and quickly!

Please Don’t let this guy talk..it’s never good…Please

  • rpflix

All you blaming Ron Paul, or thinking he has given up, listen up.

This is Jesse Benton speaking, NOT Ron Paul. Benton is the epitome of the wolf in sheep’s clothing. For 5 years I have kept my mouth shut, but no more. Benton has sold us down the river. This is NOT some strategy at play, this is the end, according to Benton. He was in this for one reason – to make a name for himself. That’s done and he doesn’t give a shit anymore.

My friends, I have been campaigning since May 2007, 5 years, and have never stopped. I run our local Ron Paul meet up in Boulder, CO. I’m not just some guy with a website. I am on the ground. I talk to a lot of people from the top to the bottom. This is a move that we have sadly been expecting, hoping the whole time that we would be wrong. You need to snap out of your hopeful delusion. Benton has sold the movement down the river. It’s time to stop avoiding the truth.

It’s up to us now, the campaign will not be guiding us to victory. If it is to be, it rests with “WE”.

What’s your take on the idea that Ron Paul actually challenged Jesse Benton to provide such a press release?
      I think that’s entirely a good possibility.
No? Are you saying this is Jesse Benton is a rogue screw up for real? I take everything at face value. Are YOU the rogue? Declining to face the fact that our campaign has reached it’s pinnacle? Trying to push the idea that Romney has no chance of reaching 1144?
I believe Romney will get 1144 before August and will BE the nominee rolling into the RNC in Tampa.
I also believe it is a huge victory to have Ron Paul on the floor, and an ability to adjust the rotton neo-con platform and try to fix some things for we the people. It’s a HUGE victory to get this far!
I posted originally to encourage the discouraged, see my original post.
So what up with your “sheep in wolf’s clothing” accusations? You there, the man with a name resembling a nation I don’t trust?

Isreal – keep up the good work. We need your site. I come here first everyday – maybe 50 times a day, so please keep going even if its just the movement from now on. I will still vote for the Doc – even if its a write in. HEHEHE. I am so exsited to do this if I have to because I cannot stand the establishment after learning so much from your site and others like Ben Swann; however, even Ben is confused now. This is bad becasue he was the only mainstream that was mostly honest and supportive.
Again, I believe the MSM and pundits will now use this as foder or for negative comercials to express how weak the Doc is on foreign policy. If he can’t even support his delegates at the conventions, then he is shrinking at the idea of conflict, which doesn’t bode well to explain his stance on Iran – if they continue to say he won’t fight.
Every person I talk to say, ” I love Dr. Paul and love all his policies, but he is weak on foreigh policy, so I won’t waste my vote.” These latest events are either extremely shrude or completly stupid. Israel, we cannot give up now. Many of us have been in total shock the past 24hrs but now we must redouble our efforts to elect President Paul. There is no point whatsoever in electing delgates otherwise, and of course it follows there would be no need to give money either. I couldnt give a hoot in hell about the stupid platform! Remember how effective the platform is; think Rule 11 adopted at the convention in 2008…hmmm? The Republican party is finished, and after 35 years as a Republican political activist and paid campaign consultant I see no possibility for the party to continue. I just have one thing to say, this is a revolution. We are winning the revolution by following the rules instead of breaking them. Who cares if we are loud, we are loud because we protest the GOP breaking their own rules to force a nominee on us that we don’t want and cannot stand.

Be loud, be rebellious. THIS IS A REVOLUTION!!!!!!!

    • pattyrae1

Why does Dr. Paul keep saying he doesn’t think he has a chance to win the nomination?
I believe that if he believes he can win, we will make sure he does.
It doesn’t matter what this guy, the media, etc says or does, God is with him and so are the People.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Lango/1614700070 David Lango

Rule 38 comes into play if Romney doesn’t achieve the predicted 1144. I “think”. Not sure.

  • http://RonPaulPromise.com Louis Nardozi

You know, I’ve tried to do this on other sites, where I can’t say as
much – maybe you guys can help me spread the idea. Why would Dr. Paul
make such an announcement? To inform us? REALLY? The people who scour
the internet for information on their beloved icon need a PRESS RELEASE?
It seems obvious the press release isn’t intended for us, right? Who,
then is it intended for? That much seems obvious – it is intended for
Romney and the RNC. Why would Paul send them a press release? I would
imagine because they threatened him with expulsion from the party.

Once outside the party, a third party run becomes impossible – election
laws are written to make such runs extremely unlikely to succeed. Ouster
from the party would probably also cost Rand his career. Of course, if
Paul were not a threat to Romney, his support would prove invaluable in
    the general election.

So LET’S NOT BE A THREAT. Let’s all promise to support the presumptive
nominee when trying to fill delegate spots, and come right out and state
that we are becoming delegates for the purpose of influencing the party
platform. It’s true isn’t it? The platform will certainly change when
we’re in the majority, won’t it? And if OUR presumption differs from
THEIR presumption, we can hardly be blamed for that can we?

In point of fact maybe one of our parliamentarians can introduce a
movement that each delegate make a promise to support the presumptive
nominee, and all Paul supporters can vote in favor. Just resist any
moves to amend by substituting a name for ‘presumptive nominee’.

Do you all see where I’m going with this? Do you understand that I’m NOT
wavering in my support for Dr. Paul? He has to be doing this for a
reason. Let’s try to help him!

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Lango/1614700070 David Lango

Yes Louis, expulsion from the party or even worse, like threatening to run negative campaigns and blasting a 20 year old newsletter all over television, twisting it from out of it’s context into a bigot devil. Don’t think that’s beneath Romney and the status quo.
I seriously doubt Ron Paul wasn’t consulted about this particular telephone interview conducted by
Jesse Benton, but more likely the other way around and the boss challenged him to do it!

I hit the keyboard and would like to refer to my own effort at inspiration, and agree with you, Louis, that there are things that could exactly be just like you allege. Or worse. Or perhaps this Jesse Benton release to the press, lets the status quo “rest” on their laurels, perhaps? Might be a good ploy.
      shhh!

It could still happen. Let’s see if I’m wrong. I don’t figure Texas will go Ron Paul’s way and then translate into a majority of delegates in California….
but I could be wrong, and these kids could really pull it off, they seem awfully determined!

      • http://RonPaulPromise.com Louis Nardozi

Exactly David, we are to do what was asked and roll over, baring our throats. It is a very dangerous way to attack, but I will do as Dr. Paul asks. I will support the ‘presumptive nominee’ provided I can presume as well. I will seek to be a delegate for the sole purpose of ‘shaping the platform’. I will give Romney all the support he deserves and make no effort to nominate Dr. Paul. Everyone knows he’d have to win 6 states for that to happen anyway, and he hasn’t won a single one (courtesy of AP). It’s time to wake up and support the presumptive nominee, since it’s clear the support is on his side and his voters absolutely will not be swayed.

        • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Lango/1614700070 David Lango

You can’t talk to a mind that’s already been made up.
I had a dandy today. A professing Christian hellbent on Israel’s security, and nodded in agreement when I pointed out that his Saviour Jesus is considered a heretic by the religion of that crazy lil’ nation that wants us to attack Iran for them! “not a problem, still God’s chosen” was the reply…
I scratch my head in perplexity.
Perhaps Ron Paul could have thrown this huge segment of our society a concession on the Constitution, and gave them a bone, and things would have been different and got an invitation to the American Israeli Conference.
That would have been huge, and also a comprimise, and actually bending to the “status quo” which is out of bounds for the Doctor of principles and the Constitution.
          I digress on that.
Main thing is our beloved Congressman finally won a voice and these kids need to get to Tampa and make it heard “correctly” and as admonished “polite decorum” in order to adjust the future of the United States of America and return us to liberty, hopefully in my lifetime, I’d love to see it, and doing what I can to make it happen.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/David-Lango/1614700070 David Lango

Here it is folks, don’t be discouraged.
This decision not to go in debt lines up perfectly with Ron Paul’s fiscally conservative principles. It would cost tens of millions of dollars to compete with Romney, buy TV ads, and to actually be productive in campaigning and competing with this Billionaire, in all the primaries that are about to vote.
Ron Paul did NOT just “quit” or “drop out”, but rather made a wise decision to not go into DEBT, and make the most of this movement to try to repair a very disfunctional neo-conservative platform. He’s PLEASED we have a voice! FINALLY! A VICTORY AT LAST!

His campaign moves forward because of ALL of US! It’s up to us, the feet on the street, to show the establishment that millions of people are worth more than millions of dollars. We all have to keep up the good work. Reality is we aren’t going to get the baby boomers to turn off Fox News, and our movement doesn’t have the cash to influence Fox News. Sad to say, but we are simply NOT a “majority”…. YET….. YET!

Ron Paul knows that the young folks attending all these rallies at colleges ARE the future of the United States of America. I personally dropped a thousand dollars to attend a fundraiser here in Los Angeles and I got to meet Ron Paul personally, shake his hand, and have my picture taken with him. I feel privileged, consider it one of my experiences of a lifetime, and that thousand dollars is a lot of money that I do not feel is wasted at all! It was a WISE investment! Perhaps it’s a large sum to myself personally (it is!) and I know it’s not enough to have paid for TV ads, but here’s the bottom line…

That will turn out to be the best thousand dollars I ever spent, if I look at it like an investment in education.

Young people are the future of this country. I’m old. But my kids are gonna run this place someday and my grandkid (one so far…).

So if their young minds are opened, and grab liberty and hold it dear in their heart, and the cash I invested gets Ron Paul’s common sense Constitutional message out there, then there is hope for this great nation of ours after all!

Get your ambitious young fannies in gear, be a delegate, and go to the convention, and represent FREEDOM!
Stop pouting, real life isn’t for sissies, and remember this movement is JUST GETTING STARTED!
We have a hundred years of the FED on our plate and it’s a HUGE mess, and it’s not my job to clean it up, I’ll die before it’s all fixed. It’s YOUR JOB to carry on beyond what I can do!

And now I must wipe the tear from my eye and digress.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Lori-Stephens-Mills/1124006373 Lori Stephens Mills

I think if this is it… We need to hear it from Ron. NOT Jessie Benton not giving us the respect we deserve. Why would he not talk to US! Why have this talk with the media. We have given our money,Blood, sweat and tears to this campaign and movement. I feel completely thrown under the bus. How can he say if Romney adopts some of our positions… Romney changes his story every ten minutes or less! If Ron Paul wants to concede he needs to tell us! This is a very crappy way to find out.

  • Gail Cuddy

My vote in November will be for Dr. Ron Paul!!!!

  • fl6stringer

In the grand scheme of things, Romney is no better than Obama. I WILL
NOT VOTE FOR OBAMA AND A WILL NOT VOTE FOR ROMNEY JUST BECAUSE HE PAINTS
HIMSELF A REPUBLICAN. I WILL SUPPORT RON PAUL AND I WILL NOT WAVER. If
any of you are questioning your next move, please, do not tuck your tail
and run. I believe a little time is needed to digest this. We need to
pay attention to the possibility that this is merely a strategic move. I
don’t yet have a solid reason to question Ron Paul’s decision or even
Mr. Benton’s handling of the conference. I will be researching Benton
more closely, for sure. Maybe Israel can follow his comment with a Flix
to explain his reserves concerning Benton because I’m confident I’m not
the only one who needs a bit more schooling! Think about it – things really have been going too well lately to throw in the towel just like that.

  • JimJ1

In the spirit and wisdom of Dr. Paul, it is up to We The People to support and make this revolution happen. The fire has been ignited. A fierce and determined minority led and won our revolution at the birth of the nation. WE ARE NEEDED NOW. Wherever you patriots are become a delegate in the party….NOW, AND FOR THE NEXT ELECTION CYCLE. Learn how to be the change in the process. Though I am in dire financial circumstances….I will be donating to this next money bomb….as always. Thank You All.

God Bless Dr. Ron Paul….and remember Warren Harding and SHOW UP NOW AND ALWAYS! We shall overcome no matter the odds.

  • armygreene

Thanks for the clarification. It is troubling because the MSM, Romney, and Obama campaigns can now use this as an example of how weak (they believe) RP is on foreign policy. If he can’t even support his delegates when they get roughed up at the conventions, because he wants decorum, then they will say for sure he will not fight Iran or anyone else for that matter and is surely weak in foreign policy. There is always so many angles to these press releases that can be misconstrued and twisted, so why Jesse, why.
Why give them help when they (MSM) are doing a great job at marginalizing him. The pundits will surely express this as weakness on his part during their shows.
Just disapointed is all. Keep up the great work here – it is vital!

The motives behind this are not clear at all. It makes no sense. None. This Jesse Benton needs to be fired immediately. He is a terrible speaker and a moron of a strategist. He speaks for no one. He is the worst Ron Paul supporter I’ve ever seen or heard. How can he be the campaign manager? This is a huge mistake. What can we do about it?

  • david

I sincerely feel ripped off. First they ask for all over our money, then they all but concede to Romney. WTF? I want a refund..

    • Murray J Souders

This isn’t from Ron Pauls Mouth! Trust No One!

  • Anna Dalbec

OBama just secured a second term!!!! No Romney endorsement!!!

Ron Paul has always been the messager. People know the truth in his message. He is the most courageous man I have ever seen. I think he is trying to continue getting the message out. We don’t have the money the other canidates have to pay for the things that we would like to do. He wants us to be treated with respect which will be needed to get the message out. What motivated me when I heard him, I knew what he said was the truth. He is a statesman. Not like Obama and Romney who will say what is expected of them to please the parties…Lets help him keep his message going and work to get the delegates like he has asked us to. He has not quit things have had to change in how we are getting the message out.

When I heard Jesse Benton married into the family, I nearly flipped. LISTEN: In 2008 we, the grassroots, worked hard for Dr. Paul especially in New Hampshire. New Hampshire was our hope as we went door to door in the blistering cold advocating for Ron Paul. We were VERY organized. But when it came down to the primaries, we prepared our camp to go out to one specific location. Jesse Benton jumped in and led everyone in the completely wrong direction that day. He directed everyone to different locations and no one was where they were supposed to be. He effectively took away hundreds of votes from Ron Paul in New Hampshire in 2008. He is a saboteur. Thank you rpflix for speaking out about this, however, it should have been done sooner. I’ve been warning everyone about him this year and I was personally hoping that maybe he changed but just like in 2008 Jesse Benton ruined everything we’ve worked for.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Porter-Davis/538335684 Porter Davis

Over the last few months I’ve come to the conclusion that the Ron Paul campaign is being sabotaged from within. The tip off was the disastrous experience we had here in Oklahoma with the national campaign. They imposed someone on us with a terrible reputation. He proceeded to try to build a separate organization from the 5 year-old grassroots organization. He caused so much confusion, controversy and demoralization of the troops, the we attribute the loss of the 2nd District to him.

National had repeated complaints from activists and did nothing until time for the last District convention. Then they sort of called him off, but didn’t even remove his contact information from the website or appoint one of our proven leaders. When he did have some volunteers, all he had them do was make a bunch of phone calls that were very unproductive. I’ve heard this same kind of thing repeated in countless states. National acts like they’re throwing the game, by going through the motions, but not effectively or efficiently or supporting and utilizing the amazing grassroots organization that has grown so strong.

Then when you look back over the last year, the campaign did NOT do many commonsense things that would occur to any of us, such as:

    1. Staying in contact with the grassroots over the last four years in some other capacity than Campaign for Liberty fundraising/advocacy letters;

    2. Making a strong fairness issue from the beginning of the debates about all the obvious favoritism toward some candidates at the expense of others. They said nothing;

    3. They should have sounded the alarm and aggressively followed up on the election fraud that accompanied all the caucuses and primaries in the critical first two months of the year.

    4. They should have vehemently protested the MainStreamMedia’s strategy of either Ron Paul doesn’t exist, or spreading the meme that he is “unelectable.” They could have denounced the media at the National Press Club and announced an official end run around them;

    5. They could have compensated for the lack of air time and coverage by producing a number of “Conversations with Ron Paul” in which he discusses the Big Issues for 90 minutes with his expert advisers. The first should have been on Foreign Policy and National Defense. Have it available on the web or ship out DVD’s cheap in bulk or overnight. Neighbors would have the tools to educate neighbors. (The idea was submitted to the campaign.)

    6. Skipping CPAC and letting Romney walk with it? Really?? Dr. Paul ran away with it the last two times and took the coveted conservative endorsement. Mittens got it. Whose bright idea was it to skip a CPAC appearance for a caucus experience.

    7. Remember the 2-man showdown we all looked forward to when Ron and Mitt met in Virginia? I don’t recall much build up.

Sure its easy to be a Monday morning quarterback. But when I realized we couldn’t have been hurt more in Oklahoma if we had been intentionally sabotaged, the light went on. Then I looked back and saw what could have been.

I think those Campaign for Liberty guys are up to their eyeballs in at least a self-serving agenda. Benton, too. But the leaders could easily be double agents. Co-oping liberation movements is a time-honored tradition with the CIA. I heard everything changed after Kent Snyder (solid, trustworthy and dedicated to liberty and Dr. Paul) suddenly came down with pneumonia and died in 2008.

My take is that the Ron Paul campaign has succeeded in spite of the national campaign leadership. We need to move forward, at the same time liberating the Liberty Movement from those people as well as from the Campaign for Liberty.

The next battle is to move on to the states. We need to continue to take over the GOP machinery and get busy turning our states into Gold States (free states) using the 10th Amendment to nullify federal overreach and roll back the clutches of the Feds. Moreover, we need to transform our state legislatures with radical reform to promote liberty and put our people back to work. And we need strong, Sheriff Mack-types who understand their constitutional role and have the courage to live it.

Add to that skipping those Huckabee forums as well. I feel like they’ve been trying to lose from the jump.

    • JamesRushing

Great insights. Best plan for going forward. I’m sharing it…

  • Brandon

Can someone sum up this whole call in laymen terms? I am not entirely certain I follow all of the sentiment and happenings involved in this Benton episode (I must admit I only listened to half of it and had trouble paying full focus). I’d love some helpful attempts at summary.

WTH!!! DON’T SAY IT’S OVER!!!!! DAMNIT!!!!

  • david

RON PAUL better say something about this OR I am done.

  • phylax

Doesn’t it matter at all that Romney with no visible support has become the “winner” while Paul with tremendous support has lost? It doesn’t add up. Are we to sit still for fraud?

  • smfast

What exactly was the purpose of this call? To reach out to reporters? It serves no purpose to allow reporters access to the inner workings of a campaign managers head. It appears as if he has straggled off on his own.

Perhaps it’s a good thing that Benton exposed himself in this way now rather than later. Letting him talk openly like this to reporters could be the campaigns strategy to see what he will do if he’s cut loose and fancy free. If he is a problem, now they have good reason for occupying him with directing traffic in an office somewhere that has important looking pictures hanging on the wall.
If he were a boxer going up against the Great Muhammad Ali, he’d be knocked over and blown away like powder dust by the impact of Ali’s first utterance, “The man who has no imagination has no wings. I am the greatest. I am the people’s champion.”

If he’s out to make a name for himself, it’s may end up being a name he won’t like…like “Chump.”

  • john5757

I think Benton sold us out for a Rand Paul VP nod.

  • jayswindow

Wow. Some chill-pills are need here guys. I resonate with all the feelings of frustration but let’s give this some time to play out. It wasn’t apparent before what the delegate strategy was originally, but now it’s evident that it was masterful strategy. If I were a betting man I’d say that there is something similar in this as well.

Here’s the strategy as I see it:

    1. We didn’t have the money to compete in the Primary states which would mean low voter turn out. Solution: better to declare and make it clear that we aren’t competing or spending money so that when the tallies come in the low numbers won’t surprise. We’ve been doing this since the start (think Florida) so what’s the big deal?

    2. Maximize resources on taking the delegates at the state caucuses

    3. Appear weak in order to minimize resistance from the establishment GOP at the caucuses and avoid confrontation (the typical ‘keep your head low’ strategy)

    4. Pull off a ‘surprise’ come-back when it just so happens that you show up in Florida with a majority of supporters

The reality is that Romney is awful close to the number of delegates needed to avoid a brokered convention. We had to pull something last ditch this late in the game.

I might be delusional or just simply in denial but I sense genius in this move. It’s just too off-the-wall to explain it any other way.

  • Watch Dog

check out The Mike Church show (radio) where senator Glenn Addison endorses Ron Paul . What are your thoughts ??????

in it to win it.. rEVOLution for paul and others everyday .. grassroots may 17th.. dr. paul is not suspending his camp.. yeah 1 line from benton and everyone gets bent out of shape.. rEVOlution every day

  • jayswindow

What if in this ‘conferences’ with the Romney camp, Mitt Romney laid out a deal to RP. ” I’ll make you my VP, I’ll let you influence my platform and policy as much as you want but please STOP winning these delegates and stop campaigning. I’ll give you 48 hours to think it over”. I’d have such a bag of mixed feelings about that. Not likely, but certainly would explain the weird occurrences of the past few days.

event with the big names of Grassroots at 9 PM EST on May 17th at http://riseforliberty.com/

    SPREAD THE MESSAGE!

    • rpflix

      LOL… I guess I’m not a big name in the grassroots. :P

      • 2nephi32

I don’t really know what it is, I just received it from a group called the “People have the Power” on the FB page. But if you don’t know anything about it, maybe it’s not worth mentioning :) You are certainly a Patriot and HUGE name in the grass roots. Thanks for all you do!

  • Joergfelsch

Why even talk to the Romney campaign ? It seems premature given that so many delegates are still at stake.

  • http://www.facebook.com/magiclmp Emad F Alaeddin

Hello?? Rule 38!! What Romney delegates is he talking about? Nobody is bound to any one candidate. Benton needs another lesson on the delegate process.. what an idiot.

  • NowAndAgain

There is no such thing as bound delegates right? Screw respect. I cannot believe this clown. I say unbind and vote from the floor. Jerry Springer Show come Tampa. This guy is starting to make me think he is a total douche. No way in hell will Ron Paul support Mitt. I will vote for Obama before I vote for Mitt.

    • rpflix

It appears, that there probably isn’t.

  • Jean-Marc

Does Jesse realize that Mitt Romney’s delegates are…….. UNBOUND?!?!?!?!?! HELLO???!

  • SS

Not sure I understand whats happening is benton a traitor?

  • TommyO

Jesse Benton has totally mismanaged this and damaged the campaign seriously! Ron Paul’s initial email message hasn’t done much better! If this is Ron Paul Central’s idea of “fighting to the end” I’ll like to know what “throwing in the towel” is? I voted for Ron Paul in 1988 for president and supported him in 2008 with time, effort and maximum money – I have done my best in this 2012 election cycle as well…but for the first time I didn’t give a cent to May 17th money bomb! I thought about donating two cents to show my feeling on their recent actions..but didn’t bother! If Benton even thinks that a die-hard liberty movement supporter will vote for Romney than HE NEVER WAS ONE OF US! I’m sick of these panty waist willy-nilly types like him who kiss the establishments ass and lecture the rank and file on “decorum” and “respect”! WHY SHOULD WE TREAT TYRANTS AND TRAITORS WITH RESPECT WHEN THEY HAVE SHREDDED OUR BILL OF RIGHTS AND ARE DESTROYING OUR REPUBLIC DAILY – WHY SHOULD WE CARE ABOUT A CORRUPT ORGANIZATION LIKE THE GOP THAT LIES AND CHEATS? We need to grind them into dust under our feet! SCREW JESSE BENTON and Ron Paul better wise up PRONTO and do the right thing and fire Benton ass ASAP!

  • dbdanbach

Screw Benton. He wants us to go hat in hand to Mitt Romney and the republican establishment. That’s not what I signed up for. The liberty movement came to break apart the establishment, not feed off table scraps. The war ain’t over benton.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brad-Linzy/100002480473955 Brad Linzy

    Jesse Benton is an idiot.

He said the WORST possible thing at the WORSE possible time. His words were demoralizing, confusing, and just plain unnecessary.

  • http://twitter.com/theropingeffect theropingeffect

    Benton is a GOP lapdog.

  • Nullify

Benton……you have to go! Step down now! And if not, I hope Ron kicks your ass across the street. Get your ass over to Romney’s camp and stop the sell-out of the campaign. All your looking out for is yourself and furthering your rotten political career. All these campaign contributions that eventually lined your pocket makes me want to drag you to the woodshed.
