I’ve only seen two of these videos, but this young man seems to be very rational and reasonable in his assessment of Dr. Paul – please share if you agree… Thanks and God Bless

Very well done. . . have shared on my FB page!

I appreciate the attempt to gain the religious vote but Biblical Law is not compatible with libertarianism/(classical)liberalism.

    • Anonymous

      Yes actually, it IS.

    • Gfincher987

Sure it is. I support Ron Paul because I believe his views line up with biblical revelation. Paul himself frequently references the Golden Rule.

      • Gfincher987

sorry didn’t finish my statement…And Jesus explains that the golden rule along with the great commandment, to love God with all your heart, mind and soul, are the summation of the law. These are some of the principles that undergird our Constitution.  How are they not compatible the libertarianism?

        • mvw

Because there’s a lot more to the Bible than the Golden Rule (a rule around long before Jesus existed)

    • Jeff Rowberg

It is fair to say that the “live and let live” universally applied non-aggression principle doesn’t *explicitly* deal with how to address immoral behavior that does not violate someone else’s right to life and justly owned property. Christians get hung up on Ron Paul’s clearly stated position that he doesn’t think the government should stop gays from getting married, since it appears to fly in the face of Biblical commandments. But there is a very clear distinction to be made, namely this:

Christians are never either allowed or commanded to *use force* against non-aggressive immoral actions, including homosexuality, pride, drunkenness, adultery, etc. These are clearly wrong according to a biblical viewpoint, but while we are certainly free to condemn those actions (and we should), we are unequivocally NOT free to use force.

However, the only real tool government has is force. The use of force is justified in some very limited areas (in short, that which carries out just punishment for or protection against any violations of rights). Outside of these areas, force is unjustified, and the government should have no legitimate authority. In light of this, libertarianism is not only compatible with Christianity, it also seems to be the only thoroughly consistent and compatible political framework available.

      • mvw

I find this reply odd considering that the Bible is pretty explicit when it commands its followers to stone to death the perpetrators of numerous non-aggressive ‘crimes’. And, of course, there’s the passages concerning slavery

        • Glukeq

The distinction that is missing here is the difference between the revealed law of God (Mosaic), and the natural laws of God as understood plainly and cogently in LibertarIan Natural Law.
We may know very clearly what is evil in God’s sight through the Mosaic Law (and build our moral standards from it), but that law is enforced only under a covenantal political system. Israel agreed to the covenant, so they are held to it (kind of fits nicely into the right to contract).
No people, save Israel, are under such covenant, but all are subject to justified and legitimate punishment by government when they infringe upon God-given natural rights of others.
Libertarianism, to me, glorifies God’s amazing intention for mankind. All other uses of God’s name in the political realm is using His name in vain.

        • agm

mvw, I’m afraid your assessment of biblical law is completely off base. God never demands the death penalty for “non-aggressive” crimes. And the slavery issue is discussed in video #8 of this series. also, please read this article: http://www.scribd.com/doc/60926160/Why-Anarcho-Pacifism-Is-Incompatible-With-Christianity-A-Response-to-Josh-Dies-of-Showbread

          • Jeff Rowberg

To be fair, there are definitely laws in the Old Testament that demand the death penalty for non-violent crimes, as well as permitting slavery in circumstances that no libertarian could justify. I don’t think it’s even remotely possible to square libertarianism with the Mosaic law.

However, if you believe that the “new covenant” has replaced the “old covenant,” and you look to the New Testament primarily as the example for how we ought to live and interact with others, as well as what Jesus taught, it fits perfectly.

          • mvw

I fail to see how the link shows that my assessment of Biblical law is off-base. Perhaps you’d like to expand upon how, for instance, stoning a girl to death for not being a virgin on her wedding night is compatible with libertarianism (or any notion of proportionate justice for that matter – it doesn’t even seem compatible with “an eye for an eye”) and how it does not constitute a death penalty for a non-aggresssive/violent crime.

    • Jacobaws

Locke was among the enlightenment thinkers that spawned classical liberal philosophy. Locke in particular had a lot to say about Christ. While he defined seperation of church in state in a letter concerning toleration, he also write the reasonableness of christianity. Either way, this discussion is off base. Ron Paul’s platform is sound.

This young man’s got some definite ‘food for thought’ regarding Dr. Paul and what scripture has to say about Civil Law. Very good series here.

  • Jackson G.

Good presentation which will be valuable to voters, but I completely disagree on the execution as a means of ‘restitution.’ The NT scriptures cited are being conflated with lessons Jesus was delivering.

    • Iamishmul

What do you mean? Which video segment are you referring to? Which parts are conflated? I am interested in your viewpoint. Please explain in more detail. Thank you Jackson G.

      • Don Wood

What’s being explained there is that certain law is out of man’s jurisdiction. Others like taking of life are within man’s jurisdiction. I don’t like the death penalty either, but it’s a state’s decision to make. A LOT of people I Iowa need these videos! PLEASE spread them as quickly as we can! The pro-life video will blow Rick Santorum out of the water and he’s gaining FAST!

I just watched all 13 of these videos on various but biblical subjects concerning how well Ron Paul stacks up. I cannot recommend them enough! There are 13 different subjects and the videos are never longer than 4:00 in length. Excellent!

I just watched all episodes, back to back.  I was fascinated with how close Ron Paul’s policies come to the Bible.  I am also hugely impressed with how intelligent, gracious and articulate this young man is. I learned a lot. Well done and thank you! And of course, may the Lord bless you!

I also believe that the bible is my authority in all things, I am born again and pray for Ron Paul every day. I hope and pray that many who do not know Christ might see in Paul a man that truly lives what he believes and come to know God through Paul’s example

    • RonPaulLiberty

I’ve come to understand that the message of Ron Paul stands on it’s own and converts the hearer of it’s truth.
Isn’t this exactly how the Gospel works? We need to spread both messages. Most people haven’t even heard of Ron Paul
      let alone his message.
Ron handles the verbal abuse better than anybody I’ve ever seen. And then he speaks the message. This is the part that really inspires me to keep pushing when it seems the whole system won’t give him a break.
He’s taught me to just ignore the onslaught and then say what’s right.
This is exactly what Jesus did.
A true Christian is also a Libertarian.
      I just figured that out.

      • Tim

While I am a RP fan, I take issue with your statement that “A true Christian is also a Libertarian”. There are “true Christians” in several of the parties. No political party has the complete answer. Take a look at http://www.spectacle.org/897/trust.html. This site as well as others that are available, question whether libertarianism has all the answers. We cannot pigeon-hole ourselves as 100% within one party or another; we all have our own spin on various issues that mean something to us, but are different than the mainstream thought of a specific party.
I do plan to vote for RP, but I would like more comments from him on how he will get things done that require the cooperation of Congress. I think at this time he will only be able to take his program so far, and then run up against the block wall of Congress. Hopefully, he will have a good answer to this before the general election.

        • Anonymous

If you want to fit Jesus into this world, then yes, you can be something other than a libertarian. If though you want to follow Jesus, the real Jesus as described in the Gospels and what He taught about His Kingdom and how we are meant to be the builders of that new Kingdom, then no, you can’t be anything but libertarian, because it is the philosophy of the Kingdom.

I would propose simply circulating a pamphlet with the web link.

    Incredible job!
Best Ron Paul explanation I’ve ever seen.
I’m truly hopeful for the future.
These young people are really going to do something special in their generation.
Ron Paul has really changed this country with his life’s work.
Even if he doesn’t get elected, the next guy will for sure.
I’d vote for this guy on the basis of this one video.
Can you imagine what’s coming in the next few months?

It would be nice if every American were able to watch this video. It would put to rest all the misunderstandings about Ron Paul. I, as a supporter of Dr. Paul, have known all along what he has stood for but the everyday American doesn’t. I am afraid that some will only know what they hear on the 6 o’clock news which is totally bias against Dr. Paul. If everyone would pass this video along to people they know then we could get the truth out. Thank You

re: Sanctity of Life bills (video #4).  My understanding is that, once the unborn are considered “persons” or “life,” they would then be constitutionally protected.  Just as blacks were once not considered “persons” under the law but are now (and protected under the Constitution), so would the unborn.  It would not be a states rights issue because “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” are federally-protected rights.

But because these bills never go anywhere, Paul also supports legislation that would remove the issue from the federal government and return it to the states.  Not his first pick, but much better than what we have now.

    What have I missed?

    • ron paul 2012!

the sanctity of life act IS the bill that strips the jurisdiction from the federal government AND simultaneously defines the unborn as persons. It essentially does the two things you mention. However, the Constitution is set up so that the responsibility is with the states to defend the “life, liberty and pursuit for happiness.” if a state did not (like legalizing homicide, or enforcing slavery), then the issue can be taken to the federal government, because at that moment the state would be violating the constitution contract. but until then, we let the states have first responsibility. hope that helps.

This was fun to watch.  I have a longer response than appropriate for  this comment section.  This is a good effort and has a lot of potential to reach the target audience but there are a few red flags that will shut the eyes and ears of the target audience.  I addressed them at my blogspot http://remindingtherepublic.blogspot.com/ if anyone is interested.

Someone encouraged me to seek out Paul’s policies from a scripture point of view after chanting “Go Newt”. Fair enough. I’m a Christian; why didn’t I start with that to begin with? God led me to this almost instantaneously! So the Journey continues and I just can’t find a reason not to Vote for Ron Paul. I thank that person for the encouragement and can only hope we are ALL open and hungry enouph to seek the answers.7:7 Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

God is not ruling the “world” as we know it today…Satan is the ruler of this world…It is the Christ that will rule upon his second coming. There he will resurrect The Holy men and women of old and set up his Kingdom on Earth. Then and only then will we the people on Earth have Peace on Earth good will toward men.

      Psalm 2 >>English Standard Version

      The Reign of the Lord’s
      Anointed
      1 Why
      do the nations ragea
      and the
      peoples plot in vain?
      2 The
kings of the earth set themselves,
      and the
      rulers take counsel together,
against the Lord and against his Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us burst their bonds apart
      and
cast away their cords from us.”
      4 He
      who sits in the heavens laughs;
      the Lord holds
      them in derision.
      5 Then
he will speak to them in his wrath,
      and terrify
      them in his fury, saying,
      6 “As
for me, I have set my King
      on Zion, my holy
      hill.”
      7 I
      will tell of the decree:
      The Lord said to me, “You are my Son;
      today I have begotten you.
      8 Ask
of me, and I will make the nations your heritage,
and the ends of the earth your possession.
9 You shall breakb them with a rod of iron
and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
      10 Now
therefore, O kings, be wise;be warned, O rulers
of the earth.11 Serve the Lord with
      fear,and rejoice with
trembling.12 Kiss the Son,lest he be angry, and
you perish in the way,for his wrath is quickly
kindled.Blessed are all who take refuge in him.

Didn’t Jesus pray in the Our Father “thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”?

Indeed. And why would He tell us to pray for that, if that was already the case? Jesus prayer backs up the OP.

I’m posting this up to my Facebook and Google+ accounts.  I am so tired of my fellow Christians having their faith used against them by the establishment to encourage them to support unbiblical and unconstitutional positions and laws.  Too many Christians have forgotten that the Constitution, written by Christian men, is our friend and not our enemy.

  • Corrin Dp

I am sending this out to all my Christian friends. I will ask them to review and to show me if they see anything unbiblical about what this young man says. I will politely tell them they have a moral obligation to show me my error as my brother and/or sister in Christ.

You seem like a nice gentleman and I’m pleased to see someone actually quote the Bible so well. Having said that, saying the Bible is infallible is much like saying the Pope is. The Bible is a compilation of writings, which were voted into a single component by men in councils. Many books were not added, which easily could have been inspired as well. Case in point: Revelation was highly contested and almost didn’t make it into the Bible. Furthermore, consider the Apocrypha. The original 1611 version of the King James Bible included it, but Protestants have largely rejected it today. How do we say something that has changed over the course of history and was chosen by men to be infallible?

This may have already been mentioned, but Ron Paul has changed his mind regarding the Death Penalty. He admits that is the only stance he has changed on over the years.

This man knows The Bible and Christianity better than most I know who call themselves Christian!!  Preachers have let our Country down since the 1900′s, by being 501C-3 government stooges!!  Most are so “fearful” of loosing that status (non-Christian at best)that they are WIMPS in and out of the pulpit1  We would still be slaves to England, were it not for the Black Regiment preachers in the 1700′s.  These men of God and their love of LIBERTY led as preachers should.
When “Christians” in South Carolina boo Ron Paul for stating that the US should not kill innocents in foreign countries in our UNdeclared wars, that should be a wake up call, but it does not seem to be, except to men such as Pastor Chuck Baldwin et.al!!
We either return to The Golden Rule as a people/Nation, or we are doomed to years of Gods’ judgment!!  He cannot let us go on murdering BABIES as well!
Pray for Dr.  Paul’s victory (and ours).

If we allow the bible to be our authority in all things –

If there was someone or something out there that wanted to manipulate us for some purpose, all they would have to do (would have to have done) is to alter the bible to their advantage.

    Right?
